COMPETITION LAW 

Mr. Anshuman Sakle is a Partner at Khaitan & Co. He has conducted various competition law audits. His articles are routinely published in Indian as well as International journals and blogs and he is a regular speaker at seminars and law conferences across India. He has recently been invited to join the Editorial Board of the Journal of Intellectual Property and Competition Law.  His expertise has received recognition from different directories such as Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal and AsiaLaw. He graduated from Symbiosis Law School, Pune.

Ms. Neelambera Sandeepan is a Joint Partner in the Competition Law team at Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys. She regularly appears before the Competition Commission of India, NCLAT and various High Courts. She has previously worked at the World Trade Organisation in Geneva. She has graduated from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow and has pursued her Masters from New York University School of Law and the National University of Singapore.

Ms. Nisha Kaur Uberoi is a Partner and the National Head of the Competition Law Practice at Trilegal. She serves as a member of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Merger Control of the IBA Antitrust Committee and was a member of the Editorial Board of the Global Competition Review 2018. She also periodically assists the CCI in reviewing and amending the merger regulations. She is an alumnus of National Law School of India University, Bangalore and did her LL.M. from the National University of Singapore. Law Practice at Trilegal. Mr. Yaman Verma is a Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. He has extensively advised on complex multi-jurisdictional mergers, abuse of dominance and cartel cases, with a special focus on technology and e-commerce markets. Yaman has been recognised by leading directories, including Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal, Legal500, and Experts’ Guide. He regularly contributes to competition law publications, including India chapters for GCR, “Getting the Deal Through”, and PLC. He has also co-authored an article on Indian antitrust law for a Kluwer publication titled “Competition and Patent Law in the Pharmaceutical Sector: An International Perspective” in 2016, and a Competition Policy International Publication titled “The Evolution of Antitrust in the Digital Era: Essays on Competition Policy” in 2020. He graduated from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, where he has also conducted an elective course on competition law.

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

Mr. Balu G Nair is a Lecturer at O.P. Jindal Global University. He has been associated with organisations such as AK Law Chambers and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. He was awarded the Tata Endowment Scholarship as well as the Myers Family Scholarship. His current research interests include the interface between public and private law in India, temporary constitutionalism, and federal asymmetry. Other than public law, his interest lies in the areas of tort and copyright laws. He was the inaugural Alex Chernov Scholar during his LL.M. at the Melbourne Law School. University. He has been associated with organisations such as AK Law Chambers and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Mr. Fuzail Ahmad Ayyubi Law Practices. He has worked as a Partner in Lex Corpus soliciting and arguing corporate, civil and criminal matters. He has also worked as an Associate in Luthra and Luthra Law Offices and Amarchand Mangaldas. He completed his LLB degree from the Delhi University and also has a Diploma in Tax Laws the Indian Law Institute. He has played an active role as the counsel in National Registration (NRC), Assam case. He has also delivered talks on the matter of Refugee rights in India.

CORPORATE LAW

Mr. Gaurav Dani is the Founding Partner of IndusLaw. He has previously worked with the India team at White & Case LLP and other prominent Indian law firms. He is a recommended lawyer for Banking & Finance and Capital Markets in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 and a regular speaker at seminars in India and overseas. He pursued his LL.M. (International Banking & Financial Laws) from School of Law, Boston University.

 

Mr. Bhumesh Verma is the Managing Partner of Corp Comm Legal. A law graduate from Campus Law Centre (University of Delhi), he started his career at Ajay Bahl & Co. (now part of AZB & Partners) and went on to work with some of the best law firms in India. He also received the Chevening Scholarship by the UK Government in 2000 whereunder he studied in College of Law, York and was a visiting lawyer with Ashursts’ London office. After returning to India, he became partner at some of the leading Indian law firms including Khaitan & Co., Paras Kuhad & Associates and Link Legal.

His primary expertise areas are advising domestic and foreign clients on inbound and outbound Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Foreign Investments, Corporate Advisory, Negotiations and related legal fields.

CRIMINAL LAW

Mr. Amish Aggarwala is a Central Government Counsel and Disputes Lawyer at the Supreme Court of India. He has been practicing as an Advocate in the Delhi High Court for over seven years after completing his education in law from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in 2013. His areas of interest are diverse and he is extremely skilled at Legal Research and Legal Writing. He is also the author of a primer on the matrimonial laws in India.

Ms. Ashima Mandla is a Criminal Law Practitioner primarily practicing in Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi. She is the co-founder and partner at Mandla & Singh Law Chambers. She is the former junior of Mr. K.T.S Tulsi, Senior Advocate and Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha ) and Mr. Vivek Tanka, Senior Advocate and Member Parliament(Rajya Sabha). She works with many institutions including Legal and Human rights department of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Criminal Justice Society of India, National Student’ Union Legal Aid Clinic and many more.

Dr. Garima Pal was awarded PhD in the field of “Drug Abuse and Alcoholism and role of Re-habilitation centers in Uttarakhand. She specializes in the field of Criminology and Victimology. She was employed as Assistant Professor in Symbiosis Law School, Pune till July 2018. She has also done a certificate course with Harvard University on “Justice”. She is also associated with an NGO, Care Village Foundation, New Delhi as their Executive Director. Prior to joining Symbiosis Law School Law, Pune she taught UG/PG students of Law TMU University, Muradabad. She has previously worked as a Research Associate with Institute of Social Sciences, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi in a research project sponsored by TATA. She is currently working as Guest Faculty with NLU Delhi for Legal Research methods and is also Project Coordinator of research projects titled “ Hate Crimes: prejudices and violence faced by people from North Eastern States and Measures to counter-an empirical study”.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Mr. Ajar Rab is a partner at Rab & Rab Associates LLP, Dehradun, Arbitrator, and a Visiting Professor at National Law School of India University, Bangalore and National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in international commercial arbitration from Bucerius Law School, Germany. He has also authored a book on real estate law, and his work on commercial law and arbitration is published regularly in various reputed national and international journals.

Ms. Kshama A. Loya is a Leader in the International Dispute Resolution practice, with special focus on International Commercial & Investment Treaty Arbitration, at Nishith Desai Associates. She focusses on complex cross-border commercial disputes, civil and criminal litigation and pre-litigation strategies. She has appeared independently in various High Courts and Tribunals. She has conducted several arbitrations in various sectors and has a special focus on the cross-examination of witnesses. Kshama began her practice in the chambers of (present) Justice S.V. Gangapurwala at the High Court of Bombay. She completed her LL.M. in International Commercial Laws from King’s College London and holds a postgraduate diploma on Negotiation & Dispute Resolution from Harvard Law School. Kshama is part of the Steering Committee of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Young Members Group (CIArb YMG) in India and is an Executive Board Member of International Centre for Dispute Resolution, Young & International (ICDR Y&I). She has recently been appointed as Vice-Chair of the IPBA Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Committee, and Co-chair of the IPBA Investment Arbitration Sub-committee.

EMPLOYMENT LAW 

Ms. Pooja Ramchandani is a Partner and heads the labour and employment law practice of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co. Her area of expertise encompasses a range of matters in the field of employment and labour laws.  She has advised on the structuring of a workforce, social security, pensions, benefits and compensation, the transition of employees and implications in corporate restructuring, integration of benefits and compensation amongst others. HUMAN RIGHTS

Dr. Deepa Kansra, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Human Rights Studies Programme, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. With teaching experience of over 12 years, she has taught students from law and other disciplines at undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels. She writes extensively on developments in human rights law, particularly issues concerning well-being, vulnerability, violence, conflict, and justice, and has publications in journals of national and international repute. Her recent contributions can be found here- Rights for Well-Being (Psychology Today), Rights Compass, and PhilPeople.

INSOLVENCY LAW

Mr. Suharsh Sinha is a Partner in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Practice at AZB and partners. He has served as an independent consultant to Bankruptcy Law Reform Committee and as a consultant with the Strategic Research Unit of the RBI. He has assisted in drafting key rules and regulations for implementing IBC, 2016. He has played a key role in drafting IBBI Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Persons Regulations (2016), IBBI Liquidation of Corporate Persons Regulations (2016) and Application to Adjudicating Authority Rules (2016). He has graduated from NLSIU, Bangalore and has done his LLM from the University of Pennsylvania.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 

Mr. Aditya Gupta is currently an Attorney at Ira Law. He has studied the different doctrinal and policy perspectives on intellectual property law, antitrust law and cyberlaw and the basics of American corporate law. He was awarded a master’s degree in law at Harvard Law School.

INTERNATIONAL LAW

Dr. Moumita Mandal holds Ph.D. in International Law from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and serves as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow under the Jawaharlal Nehru Chair, School of International Studies, JNU, New Delhi. She completed her M.Phil in International Law from JNU and LL.M in International Law from the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. She has contributed significant scholarly works such as: “Role of Women in Sustainable Soil Management: Some Legal Reflections” in Bharat H. Desai et al (ed.), Soil law & Governance in India (Berlin: Springer, 2021; forthcoming);  “Sexual & Gender Based-Violence in International Human Rights Law: Some Reflections”, Journal of National Human Rights Commission, India Vol. 19, 2020; Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA)”, Yearbook of International Environmental Law, (Oxford: OUP), vol.30, 2019, etc. She also worked as a rapporteur in West Bengal Commission for Women and Human Rights Studies Programme, SIS, JNU, New Delhi; and drafted a project for the West Bengal Commission for Women.

Dr. Prabhash Ranjan is serving as a Senior Assistant Professor of Law at South Asian University, Delhi. He was awarded PhD by King’s College London.  He has been a visiting fellow at Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, Brookings India and Cambridge University. He has also served as Associate Professor at National Law University Jodhpur and Assistant Professor at National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. He is also a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney Research Assistant at University College London, Research Consultant to UNDP. He teaches and publishes in the area of International Investment Law and World Trade Law. He has his articles published in Journal of World Intellectual Property and Cambridge International Law Journal among many others.

Dr. Santosh K Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor at Law Centre 2, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He has a doctorate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is an annual report contributor on ‘Armed Conflict and the Environment’ to the Yearbook of International Environmental Law. He is a member of IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and an Associate Member of Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi. He teaches Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, Administrative Law and Jurisprudence. He has been actively involved in ICRC’s activities of spreading IHL’s awareness and understanding among students.

MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY 

Mr. Apar Gupta has worked for over 15 years as a lawyer, activist and writer on the intersection of technology and democratic rights in India. Qualified to practice law, he completed his masters degree from Columbia Law School, New York. As a lawyer, he worked on commercial arbitration and disputes in Karanjawala & Co. as an associate and then as a partner at Advani & Co. From 2013, he worked extensively at the intersection of technology and civil rights through strategic litigation in cases such as Shreya Singhal v. Union of India (Section 66A), Subramanium Swamy v. Union of India (criminal defamation), Anuradha Bhasin v. Union of India (Internet Shutdowns) and Justice Puttaswamy v. Union of India (Right to Privacy and Aadhaar). This is complemented with online campaigns and civic literacy efforts where he was a co-founder in the Network Neutrality campaign called the SaveTheInternet.in and for data protection laws under SaveOurPrivacy.in. He has also deposed before Parliamentary Committees of Information Technology; and, Science and Technology on topics of study including Net Neutrality, Internet Shutdowns, Online obscenity and the DNA Bill. Apar’s public service includes being a member of a sub-committee for privacy of judicial data constituted by the Supreme Court of India; on the panel of legal experts of the Editors Guild of India; and, the working group on technology and society by the India International Center to organize lectures for its 60th anniversary. Presently, he serves as the Executive Director of the Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) which he has also co-founded, for which he was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship. His writing is published in peer reviewed journals and papers of record such as Indian Express and The Hindu and has conducted courses at NLS, Bangalore and NLU, Delhi.

Mr. Matthew Chacko is the Head of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice at Spice Route Legal and is one of the firm’s Founding Partners. He has worked in multiple jurisdictions including several international firms in Singapore and has been recognised as one of India’s 25 emerging leaders in law (RSG Consulting). His work is recognised and acclaimed by many legal publications including Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and the International Financial Law Review.  He has graduated from NALSAR, Hyderabad and has pursued his Bachelor of Civil Laws from the University of Oxford.

PUBLIC POLICY

Apoorva is a Research Fellow with Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, Bengaluru. She works for Vidhi’s JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) initiative and researches on judicial reforms and increasing access to justice. She previously worked with Mint as a legal writer and with Vidhi as an Associate Fellow. Her areas of interest include Alternative Dispute Resolution (particularly mediation), constitutional law and animal law. Apoorva graduated with a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from National Law University, Delhi in 2014 and completed her LL.M. from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2018.

Kalyani Menon is currently working as a Research Associate/ Associate Editor at the Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR). At CLPR, she works for the ConstitutionOfIndia.net website which aims at creating public awareness and enabling active public engagement with India’s constitutional tradition. She graduated from Jindal Global Law School with a BA. LLB (Hons.) in 2019 and was a recipient of the Savitri Jindal Merit Cum Mean Studentship (2014 – 2019) as well as the Bursary Scholarship, Queen’s University, Canada – Fall 2018. Her research interests include constitutional law, refugee law and gender and sexuality studies.
