COMPETITION LAW 

Ms. Neelambera Sandeepan is a Partner in the Competition Law team at Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys. She regularly appears before the Competition Commission of India, NCLAT and various High Courts. She is a graduate from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, and has pursued her Master’s degree in law from New York University School of Law and the National University of Singapore. Ms. Sandeepan has extensive experience representing Indian and multi-national companies in cases of cartels, unilateral abuse and complex merger control. She often publishes in national and international publications such as The Law Review, Legal 500, ICLG, to name a few. Her article titled, “Indian competition law: An overview of national case law” was shortlisted for the Concurrences Antitrust Awards, 2023, in the Business Article Category. Additionally, she has previously worked at the World Trade Organisation in Geneva.

Mr. Yaman Verma is a Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. He has extensively advised on complex multi-jurisdictional mergers, abuse of dominance and cartel cases, with a special focus on technology and e-commerce markets. He has graduated from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, where he has also conducted an elective course on competition law. Mr. Verma has been recognised by leading directories, including Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal, Legal500, and Experts’ Guide. He regularly contributes to competition law publications, including India chapters for GCR, “Getting the Deal Through”, and PLC. He has also co-authored an article on Indian antitrust law for a Kluwer publication titled, “Competition and Patent Law in the Pharmaceutical Sector: An International Perspective” in 2016, and a Competition Policy International Publication titled, “The Evolution of Antitrust in the Digital Era: Essays on Competition Policy” in 2020. 

Mr. Vijay Pratap Singh Chauhan is a highly experienced Partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, specializing in Competition/Antitrust and Trade law. With over 15 years of professional experience, he advises international and domestic clients on a wide range of Competition Law matters, including high-profile multi-jurisdictional M&A Transactions. Notable achievements include securing merger control clearances for acquisitions such as the Mumbai Airport, Flipkart, and Ola Cabs. Mr. Chauhan also provides advisory services in market access and trade law at the policy level, currently advising a developed European country’s government on Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the Government of India. Recognized for his expertise, he represents clients in major cartel cases, conducts internal investigations, and offers valuable compliance advice.

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

Mr. Balu G Nair is a Lecturer at O.P. Jindal Global University. He has been associated with organisations such as AK Law Chambers and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. He was awarded the Tata Endowment Scholarship, as well as, the Myers Family Scholarship. Mr. Nair was the inaugural Alex Chernov Scholar during his LL.M. at the Melbourne Law School University. His current research interests include the interface between public and private law in India, temporary constitutionalism, and federal asymmetry. Other than public law, his interest lies in the areas of tort and copyright laws.  University. He has also been associated with organisations such as AK Law Chambers and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. 

Mr. Swapnil Tripathi is a lawyer by profession. He is currently pursuing a DPhil (Doctor of Philosophy) from the University of Oxford as a Gopal Subramanium Scholar. He read law at the National Law University, Jodhpur, and thereafter completed the Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. He takes a keen interest in Constitutional Law and Legal History, and has written for forums like Live Law, Bar & Bench, The Quint, Firstpost, the Leaflet, The Print, Financial Express, etc. Mr. Tripathi also runs a Blog titled, “The Basic Structure” wherein he simplifies India’s constitutional law and developments for a common man’s understanding. The Blog has been featured in leading dailies for its global presence.

CORPORATE LAW

Mr. Gaurav Dani is the Founding Partner of IndusLaw. He has previously worked with the India team at White & Case LLP and other prominent Indian law firms. He pursued his LL.M. (International Banking & Financial Laws) from School of Law, Boston University. Mr. Dani is a recommended lawyer for Banking & Finance an Capital Markets in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 and a regular speaker at seminars in India and overseas.

Mr. Bhumesh Verma is the Managing Partner of Corp Comm Legal. A law graduate from Campus Law Centre (University of Delhi), he started his career at Ajay Bahl & Co. (now part of AZB & Partners) and went on to work with some of the best law firms in India. He also received the Chevening Scholarship by the UK Government in 2000 whereunder he studied in College of Law, York and was a visiting lawyer with Ashursts’ London office. After returning to India, he became partner at some of the leading Indian law firms including Khaitan & Co., Paras Kuhad & Associates and Link Legal. His primary expertise areas are advising domestic and foreign clients on inbound and outbound Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Foreign Investments, Corporate Advisory, Negotiations and related legal fields.

CRIMINAL LAW

Mr. Amish Aggarwala is an Advocate on Record at the Supreme Court of India. He has been practicing as an Advocate in Delhi for 10 years after completing his education in law from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in 2013. He has also represented the Central Government at the Supreme Court of India for 5 years. His areas of interest are diverse and he is extremely skilled at Legal Research and Legal Writing. He is also the author of a primer on matrimonial laws in India.

Ms. Ashima Mandla is a Criminal Law Practitioner primarily practicing in Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi. She is the co-founder and partner at Mandla & Singh Law Chambers. She is the former junior of Mr. K.T.S Tulsi, Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha ) and Mr. Vivek Tanka, Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament(Rajya Sabha). Ms. Mandla works with many institutions including Legal and Human rights department of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Criminal Justice Society of India, National Students’-‘ Union Legal Aid Clinic and many more.

Dr. Garima Pal was awarded PhD in the field of “Drug Abuse and Alcoholism and role of Re-habilitation Centers in Uttarakhand”. She specializes in the field of Criminology and Victimology. She was employed as Assistant Professor in Symbiosis Law School, Pune, till July 2018. She has also done a certificate course with Harvard University on “Justice”. She is also associated with an NGO, Care Village Foundation, New Delhi as their Executive Director. Prior to joining Symbiosis Law School Law, Pune she taught UG/PG students of Law TMU University, Muradabad. She has previously worked as a Research Associate with Institute of Social Sciences, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, in a research project sponsored by TATA. Dr. Pal is currently working as Guest Faculty with NLU Delhi for Legal Research Methods and is also Project Coordinator of research projects titled, “ Hate Crimes: Prejudices and Violence Faced by People from North Eastern States and Measures to Counter-An Empirical Study”.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Prof. (Dr.) Ajar Rab is a renowned arbitrator and founding partner of ANR LAW LLP in Dehradun, specializing in international Arbitration, Corporate Transactions, and Commercial Litigation. With expertise in Energy Disputes, EPC Contracts, and Infrastructure Disputes, he has worked with Ministries, Government Bodies, and Policy Institutes and is an International Policy Consultant at Lexidale. Dr. Rab holds esteemed academic positions, including Professor of Practice at the School of Law, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, and Distinguished Visiting Professor at the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS). He is an author of notable books, a member of various arbitration institutes worldwide, and has published extensively in leading national and international journals. Mr. Abhileen Chaturvedi has over a decade of experience in representing and advising clients on both domestic and cross border disputes. He has acted for clients in both ad hoc as well as institutional arbitration under the ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC and UNCITRAL Rules. He has represented companies in the banking and finance, construction, energy, infrastructure, mining, technology and telecom sector, before judicial forums in India and institutional and ad hoc arbitral tribunals.

Besides arbitrations, Abhileen has acted for clients in commercial and white collar crime litigation, and bankruptcy matters and has represented them before various judicial forums. Beyond commercial dispute representation, Abhileen has advised clients on contractual claims, BITs executed by the Government of India and dispute resolution procedures before arbitration tribunals. Some of his key assignments have been provided below.

Mr. Abhileen read the law at Symbios Law School, Pune and after having gradudated in 2009, he has been advising and representing clients in commcercial disputes. During the year 2015-16, Abhileen pursued a Masters in International Dispute Settlement from the University of Geneva and Graduate Insitute of International & Development Studies where he concentrated on international trade and investment law and international commercial arbtiration. He has also pursued courses on Public and Private International Law by the Hague Academy of International Law.

Mr. Akash Gupta is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, specializing in teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) courses. He holds significant positions as the Assistant Editor for the Indian Review of International Arbitration and as a Peer Review Board Member for the Indian Arbitration Law Review. He has been appointed as an Arbitrator and Conciliator in numerous Commercial Disputes. He has also received the prestigious Young ADR Academic of the Year award and a full scholarship to the Paris Arbitration Academy.
Mr. Gupta earned his LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University and completed his B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from National Law University, Tamil Nadu. He has conducted workshops and courses on ADR at 30 law schools, including renowned institutions like Stockholm University and the University of Bristol. As a volunteer judge, he has contributed to over 60 moots and ADR competitions, such as Vis, Jessup, Stetson, and FDI.

WHITE COLLAR CRIMES/ EMPLOYMENT LAW

Mr. Sanket Jain is a Partner at Pioneer Legal. His areas of practice include forensic investigation in white collar crimes, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and employment law matters. Prior to joining Pioneer Legal, Mr. Jain has worked for Haresh Jagtiani and Associates, ARA Law and DSK Legal as part of the corporate and M&A team. In recent years, he has advised on numerous forensic investigations of suspected fraud, bribery and misappropriation of funds; advising on fraud and anti-bribery laws in India and reporting requirements; advising on strategy and implementation of action against perpetrators of such crime; advising on preventive action and building robust mechanisms/policies to counter such crime, etc.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Gupta is a highly experienced Professor of Law at National Law University Delhi (NLUD) with 22 years of teaching experience. She specializes in Commercial and Business Laws, including Contract Law, Banking Law, Property Law, and Competition Law. Prof. Gupta is a renowned author and has been featured in BW Legal’s list of Most Influential Women driving change in the Indian legal ecosystem in the academician category. She holds external expert roles in committees and serves as a Policy Advisor at NLU Delhi. She conducts training programs on Gender Sensitization and has presented papers internationally. She has received prestigious awards for her contributions to women empowerment and academic excellence. Additionally, Prof. Gupta actively contributes to the field of legal education by serving on the Executive Committee (EC) of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat, and NLUD. She is a member of the National Human Rights Commission’s Core Group of Women and has served on the Board of Referees for esteemed journals like the National Crime Record Bureau Journal. Prof. Gupta’s outstanding contributions to the legal field extend beyond teaching and research, making her an inspiring figure in the academic community.

Dr. Deepa Kansra, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Human Rights Studies Programme, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. With a teaching experience of over 12 years, she has taught students of law and other disciplines at undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels. She writes extensively on developments in human rights law, particularly on issues concerning well-being, vulnerability, violence, conflict, and justice, and has publications in journals of national and international repute. Ms. Jyotika Kalra is an Advocate-on-Record with the Supreme Court of India. She was a Member of the National Human Rights Commission until April 2022. She was also an independent director of the Power Grid Corporation India Ltd. & Minda Sai Ltd. She has filed many Public Interest Litigations (PIL), significant among them are opening a channel for females to practice as make-up artists in the Cine industry after 60 years and; raising the issue of non-recruitment of women in the Armed Forces. Her recent PIL before the Supreme Court is concerning inadequate mental health infrastructure in Jails.

She has been honoured by the Supreme Court for her three books. She was given the award for an Outstanding Woman in 2014 by the National Commission for Women. She was one of the speakers at CSW 65 (March 2021) on the topic “Women and Girls- Empowerment Through Responsive Quality Education”. She was a speaker at United Nation’s Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), at its 79th session (June 2021) on “Equality and Non-Discrimination with a Focus on Indigenous Women and Girls and Intersecting Forms of Discrimination” and many other International Forums. She had also been teaching at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

INSOLVENCY LAW

Mr. Suharsh Sinha is a Partner in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Practice at AZB and partners. He has graduated from NLSIU, Bangalore and has done his LLM from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as an independent consultant to Bankruptcy Law Reform Committee and as a consultant with the Strategic Research Unit of the RBI. Mr. Sinnha has assisted in drafting key rules and regulations for implementing IBC, 2016. He has played a key role in drafting IBBI Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Persons Regulations (2016), IBBI Liquidation of Corporate Persons Regulations (2016) and Application to Adjudicating Authority Rules (2016). 

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW

Dr. Mohit Gambhir, an Adjunct Visiting Professor of Practice at IIT, Jodhpur, and President & CEO of Verispire Corp. USA, is renowned for his exceptional work in promoting India’s innovation ecosystem. Formerly the Founder Director of the Innovation Cell at the Ministry of Education, Government of India, he led transformative initiatives and launched programs like Smart India Hackathon, IICs, YUKTI 2.0, and KAPILA, impacting millions of lives.
With a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and an LLB in IPR, Dr. Gambhir has extensive experience in the IP and Patents Domain. He has established over 7000 Innovation Councils, bolstering grassroots innovation nationwide. He achieved a remarkable feat during the pandemic, organizing the world’s first Virtual Online Hackathon with 10,000+ participants. He is recognized for his contributions and  is a senior member of IEEE and has received multiple International and National awards. Dr. Gambhir has also spearheaded significant international programs like the Singapore India Hackathon, ASEAN India Hackathon, and Toy Hackathon.

INTERNATIONAL LAW

Dr. Moumita Mandal is currently a Visiting Fellow at- The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law & International Law (MPIL), Germany; Assistant Professor, VSLLS, VIPS, Delhi; & Post-Doctoral Fellow, Nehru Chair, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.  Dr. Mandal holds Ph.D. in International Law from JNU, New Delhi. She completed her M.Phil in International Law from JNU and LL.M in International Law from the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. She has contributed significant scholarly works such as: “Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in International Law: Making International Institutions Work,” Singapore: Springer Nature, 2022 (co-author: Prof. Bharat H. Dr. Santosh K Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor at Law Centre 2, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He has a Doctorate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is an annual report contributor on ‘Armed Conflict and the Environment’ to the Yearbook of International Environmental Law. He is a member of IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and an Associate Member of Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi. He teaches Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, Administrative Law and Jurisprudence. He has been actively involved in ICRC’s activities of spreading IHL’s awareness and understanding among students.

MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY 

Mr. Apar Gupta has worked for over 15 years as a Lawyer, Activist and Writer on the intersection of technology and democratic rights in India. Qualified to practice law, he completed his masters degree from Columbia Law School, New York.  He has worked on commercial arbitration and disputes in Karanjawala & Co. as an associate and then as a partner at Advani & Co. Beginning of 2013, he worked extensively at the intersection of technology and civil rights through strategic litigation in cases such as Shreya Singhal v. Union of India (Section 66A), Subramanium Swamy v. Union of India (Criminal Defamation), Anuradha Bhasin v. Union of India (Internet Shutdowns) and Justice Puttaswamy v. Union of India (Right to Privacy and Aadhaar). This is complemented with online campaigns and civic literacy efforts where he was a co-founder of the Network Neutrality campaign called the SaveTheInternet.in and for data protection laws under SaveOurPrivacy.in. He has also deposed before Parliamentary Committees of Information Technology; and, Science and Technology on topics of study including Net Neutrality, Internet Shutdowns, Online obscenity and the DNA Bill.

Mr. Matthew Chacko is the Head of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice at Spice Route Legal and is one of the firm’s Founding Partners. He has graduated from NALSAR, Hyderabad and has pursued his Bachelor of Civil Laws from the University of Oxford.
He has worked in multiple jurisdictions including several international firms in Singapore and has been recognised as one of India’s 25 Emerging Leaders in Law (RSG Consulting). His work is recognised and acclaimed by many legal publications including Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and the International Financial Law Review. 

 PUBLIC POLICY

Dr. Isha Khurana is an experienced legal professional in research and analysis, focusing on the regulatory and legal aspects of rights-based urban public service delivery. Her expertise extends to conducting comprehensive research, particularly for understanding legal, regulatory, and governance aspects of urban sanitation and urbanization. As a Senior Research Associate at Scaling City Institutions for India (SCI-FI) Initiative at CPR and she has undertaken in-depth studies on the regulatory landscape of urban sanitation. She has contributed to the development of various regulatory instruments aimed at realizing the rights-based delivery of urban sanitation and ensuring basic civic services to slum dwellers through the grant of land rights. She has also been involved in stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful implementation of policies and initiatives. Additionally, Isha has a profound interest in understanding the on-ground grant of rights, particularly for vulnerable populations. Isha holds a Ph.D. from Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, where her research focused on rights enforcement for persons with mental disabilities.

Dr. Harisankar K. Sathyapalan is an Associate Law Professor at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. He received his PhD from the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, and holds an LL.M. from the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. He attended the Hague Academy of International Law on a full scholarship. Immediately before joining NLSIU, he was an Assistant Professor at the School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at National Law University, Jodhpur, and Assistant Lecturer at the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur.

Mr. Basu Chandola is an Associate Fellow at Observer Research Foundation (ORF), and is currently on secondment to the G20 India Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs. In his current role, he is engaged in research, drafting, and negotiations at the G20 Development Working Group. At ORF, his area of research focuses on technology, economy, and society. He graduated from National Law University Odisha (2018) and has worked with various policy think tanks and research centers since then.
